Once again plans go to to San Telmo (and this time also a Fútbol game) were foiled by the rain!
I think the weather gods like to mock me and always rain on my parade (or plans) when I have time to explore the city.
I need to get started on my ¨To See/Eat/Go to¨list! I can´t believe it´s almost Septiembre! That means I only have 3 y medio meses left!

El Hombre Argentino Perfecto
As promised for Sauce, I´m trying to be better about updating my blog.
My roommates and I have come up with a list for the perfect Argentine man (or I guess it should apply to any man) for me to find while I´m here. Be warned: should I ever find this elusive creature, I will probably not return.
Here is the list (in no particular order)
-is between 25 and 30 years old
-is at least 5´10
-has a job (preferably office where he has to wear a suit)
-dresses well
-plays fútbol (soccer) or rugby, but also plays ultimate (or at least wants to learn)
-plays the guitar
-is a bit of an artist (can at least doodle better than me)
-knows how to cook
-doesn´t live with his parents
-doesn´t have a girlfriend (or boyfriend for that matter)
-knows how to dance (you´d be surprised as to how hard this is to find in Argentina)
-can speak a little bit of english (to overcome those small communication barriers)
-is a gentleman
-will protect me in the bars and biloches (clubs)
-has a nice smile and good teeth
-doesn´t have a mullet (it´s HUGE down here)
-looks good (goes along with the mullet and smile theme)
-snowboards
-has a car
-takes me out on creative dates
-interesting personality
-has a dog
As previously stated, should I meet anyone down here who meets all these criteria, I´m probably not coming back.
Also it should be noted that this list can be modified or even ignored at any given time :)
All that can be said for this search is ¨Buena Suerte¨!

Un mes!
So I´ve officially been in Argentina for a month now! Hard to believe it´s been that long already!
The past week has been characterized by not one, but TWO failed attempts in visiting the San Telmo area. After realizing Wednesday night that San Telmo is REALLY not a safe place to walk around when you are two blonde, american girls by yourself, my roommate Molly and I hightailed it out of there and told ourselves we would go the next day in daylight. Needless to say a series of unfortunate events prevented us from returning to San Telmo the next day. Once again we promised ourselves we would go on Sunday, for the antiques market. As you can imagine, this did not work out due to the cold rainy weather that greeted us on Sunday. We are determined to make it to San Telmo before the month is over.
On another note I was able to find REAL Skippy peanut butter! I was just wandering
in the Asian Grocery store in my neighborhood and there it was! It´s pretty expensive actually but such a treat I had to get it I couldn´t tell which was chunky vs smooth since it was written in Chinese. Fortunately I guess right and got smooth :)
Still working on the picture and computer charger situation! We should have internet in 2 weeks and my charger (thanks to my parents) should be here as well!
Besos!

La lluvia
More of the bi-polar weather that seems to be Buenos Aires. Yesterday was an extremely warm day (75F and 99%humidity). Last night I was woken up by a HUGE downpour of rain at about 12:45a.
It reminded me of the monsoon downpours at home (only without the loud scary lightening).

Disco en el Sur!
¿Quien sabe hay jugadores de Ultimate enArgentina? I thought everyone played Fútbol. After playing some great pick-up on Saturday with amazing players from the US, Argentina and Germany, I am completely sore. The weather was AMAZING for a change and I can only hope it is that way next week as well.

Bienvenidos a mi blog!
Welcome to what I hope will be a mildly amusing recollection of my time studying abroad at the Universidad de Belgrano en Buenos Aires, Argentina.
For those of you who have never been to Argentina before here are some translations you might need to survive:
Havanna= Starbucks (only you can´t get Chai and don´t even dare ask for your coffee to go)
Farmacity= Walgreens (pretty much the same with a more limited selection)
Carrefour= Walmart (and I suppose Walmart=walmart here as well)
Dinner time= 10pm or later
Street lights/road markings= suggestions (as they are in most other parts of the world)
Two other fun things to note- they like to use military time here so get used to it if you are to come. Don´t make the mistake I did, confusing 20 for 10pm.
When it comes to driving, it´s like some giant chaotic coreographed dance that everyone seems be born knowing. I think it would be impossible to learn to drive here after learning in the states and it´s scary trying to walk through that dance. Oh and the light turns yellow before it turns red and before it turns green. I think it´s a warning for the pedestrians to get out of the road.
That´s all for now! Stay tuned for more of my adventures in BA!
